A clutch of cameos from their batsmen, including the under-fire pair of Kumar Sangakkara and Yuvraj Singh, pushed Kings XI Punjab to a fighting total in Mohali. Ravi Bopara, pushed down to No. 4, chipped in with a well-paced knock to ensure the momentum wasn't lost though both Sangakkara and Yuvraj were dismissed just as they looked set to explode.

Bangalore's bowlers were spot-on with the new ball after a couple of matches of being ragged. Praveen Kumar got the ball to move a touch and tied down Shaun Marsh in the first over before Vinay Kumar, opening instead of Dale Steyn, had Marsh poking to Rahul Dravid at first slip in the next over.

Sangakkara, though, invigorated the innings with a couple of classy square drives and a whip past square leg for four. Steyn, the spearhead, was brought in but he too leaked boundaries, and a string of fours from opener Manvinder Bisla pushed Punjab to 26 for 1 after five overs. The pair kept averaging a boundary an over, and had added 63 runs without much trouble when Bisla fell attempting a scoop off Anil Kumble, being done in by a straight one.

Still, Sangakkara was looking the most fluent he has all tournament, and continued to find the gaps. A controlled, superbly timed lofted off-drive of Kevin Pietersen's first ball and a flat-batted bash down the ground kept the runs coming.

Till then, Steyn had had a poor game, being expensive in his first over and a misfield at the boundary his only contributions. However, he made a crucial intervention, removing the ominous Sangakkara in the first ball when he returned for the 12th over.

That brought in the man in the eye of the controversy that engulfed the build-up to this game - Yuvraj. Steyn rattled him with a bunch of short balls, including a 151kmh bouncer that struck Yuvraj on the back shoulder.

Yuvraj, though, showed glimpses of his destructive best, swatting Jacques Kallis into the crowd behind midwicket and then picking a Kumble googly early and clubbing it beyond long-on for six. With Bopara offering solid support, and Bangalore presenting a bunch of full tosses, Yuvraj powered Punjab ahead but just when the fans were getting ready for a feast of hitting from Yuvraj, he miscued a legstump ball to midwicket in the 18th over

Aussie cricketers forget fear, fly to IPL

There will be no rest for Australian cricketers Shane Watson, Mike Hussey, Ryan Harris and Doug Bollinger, as they will be heading to India for participation in the third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 tournament.

Last month, the Australian players were caught in a security furor after a threat from a militant group linked to al-Qaeda raised the prospect of mass withdrawals.

But the threat was not credible, according to the Australian government, and the arrival of the last four Australians proves the rich show will go on in all but the most extreme circumstances, reports The Age.

Still, some Australian players already in India have reported concerns about safety arrangements to their union at home. One team bus was stranded on a bridge for 90 minutes, while other concerns have been raised about team hotels.

'I don't know if the security issue really ever goes away,' the paper quoted Australian Cricketers Association boss Paul Marsh, as saying.

'There are concerns no matter where we tour. We are now just playing a monitoring role on behalf of the players, which we'll continue to the do for the rest of the tournament,' he said.

      yes, sania had a good opportunity as an indian. nothing would have happened had she lived in pakistan. she has a really backward thinking family (i heard it is her dad who still lives in the dark ages). living in pakistan will be bad for her. with a backward thinking family like this, maybe she deserves this punishment.

Jacob Oram is another immensely talented New Zealand player in the long list, whose career has been continuously hampered by various injuries. A tall all-rounder, Jacob Oram is an exciting cricketer to watch. Being a power-house batsman, the southpaw has the capability to smash the ball out of the ground. Considering his 1.98m height, Oram is surprisingly an agile outfielder. The southpaw is predominantly a one-day player but has also done a fair job in Test cricket. He believes in entertaining the crowd and it is hard to keep your eyes off the action when Oram is out in the middle. He makes great use of his height and generates pace and bounce from the pitch at his will. Oram has the knack of picking wickets at the right time and is capable of clocking deliveries around 140 kph.His performance in recent Test and ODI matches have been very impressive. If Oram is able to keep himself fit, one can see New Zealand winning more matches and touching greater heights, courtesy the big all-rounder.

ICC announces the Grouping and the venue to be used for ICC World twenty20 2010. Twenty20 World champions Pakistan is grouped with Australia and Bangladesh in Group A. Pakistan will start their title defense with the game against Bangladesh on May 1st 2010.

The tournament will be staged at four venues – Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts and St Lucia. The tournament will feature 27 numbers of matches in total. The tournament will run for 17 days, starting from April 30th to May 16. Semi Final of World twenty20 2009 will be played on 13th and 14th of May 2010 while Final will be played on May 16th at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Twenty20 World cup 2010 will start with the game against West Indies will take on Ireland (Associates team2) and on the same day New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

2009 world twenty20 runners-up Sri Lanka is with New Zealand and Zimbabwe in Group B. While inaugural World twenty20 winners India is kept in Group C with South Africa and Afghanistan (Associates team1) world qualifiers winner of 2010. The hosts, West Indies, are with England and Ireland in Group D.
Total 12 teams Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, Australia, India, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan (Assoicates1) and Ireland (Associates2) will participate in 2010 twenty20 cup.
The ICC has also announced top two ranked teams in each group and given them a number 1 and 2 respectively. They will retain this number irrespective of whether they finish first or second in the group.

For example if Australia top ranked Group A and Pakistan finished second in the same group; Pakistan will still remain as A1 and Australia will remain as A2 in Super Eights stages. If Bangladesh knockout Australia in Group A then Bangladesh will become A2.
